Next Red Cross Blood Drive Aug. 4 at St. Mary's

Bluffton's next American Red Cross blood drive is Thursday, Aug. 4, from noon until 6 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in the Large Room, located at 160 N. Spring St. in Bluffton.

Bethel church invites community to "Bluffton Block Party" Aug. 13

The Bethel Church of Christ will host a Bluffton Block Party on Saturday, Aug. 13 from 5-8 p.m. at the Riley Creek Mercantile parking lot located at 246 Cherry St.

There will be live music, food and activities for the kids. The community is invited to bring lawn chairs and join us for an evening of family entertainment.

Community meals July 7 and 21

Two community meals are planned for July by the Bluffton Inner Church Board. The meals are Thursday, July 7, and Thursday, July 21. Both are at 6 p.m. in the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center, North Main Street.

Admission is free; donations are accepted and will go to the Bluffton Community Assistance Program food pantry.

Bluffton Presbyterian Church will sponsor the July 7 meal; St. Mary's Catholic the July 21 meal.

Community worship service 9 a.m. on Presbyterian Church lawn

"O God Our Help in Ages Past, Our Hope for Years to Come," is the theme of the Bluffton community worship service, held in conjunction with the sesquicentennial celebration on Sunday, June 26, at 9 a.m. on the Bluffton Presbyterian Church lawn.

Through prayer and praise, Scripture readings, confession, and vignettes by representatives of the historic faith traditions in Bluffton, the community will be invited to give thanks for God's blessings of the past 150 years, even as we look forward to the future.

Princeton Theological Seminary student summer intern at First Mennonite

Jason Frey

Jason Frey, a seminary student at Princeton Theological Seminary, is a summer pastoral intern at First Mennonite Church. He serves in that role until early September, according to Steve Yoder, senior pastor.

Frey is no stranger to Bluffton. He is a 2010 Bluffton University graduate. At Bluffton he majored in religion. He is currently in his second year at Princeton working toward a master's of divinity degree.

Over 90 auction items on the block during Relay for Life

Trinity Lutheran Church, Jenera, will hold a silent auction during this weekend's Relay for Life at the Bluffton University football stadium. Over 90 items are in the auction. The auction takes place from 4 p.m. to 10 minutes after the conclusion of the fireworks (approximately 10:30 p.m.)
