First Mennonite hosts June 16 community meal

First Mennonite Church will serve the Community Meal on Thursday, June 16, at 6 p.m. at the Senior Citizen Center, according to Steven Yoder, pastor.

The meal will consist of taco salad on rice, sheet cake and fresh fruit. All are welcome to come and enjoy and evening meal for the community.

Laurel Neufeld Weaver, Susan Flowers join Bluffton staff of Lutheran Social Services

Laurel Neufeld Weaver, LISW, and Susan Flowers, LCDC 3, have recently joined the staff of the Bluffton office of Lutheran Social Services.

Both are accepting new clients at this time. Appointments may be made by calling 877-343-2187. The Bluffton office is located in English Lutheran Church, 111 Grove St.

Bluffton church collecting supplies to support Kenyan school project

In July, a woman with Bluffton connections, Julie Hostetler Graber, will travel to Kenya to share her teaching experience with the staff of the Mathare Menno Kids Academy.

The Academy is a nursery through eighth grade school located in Mathare, a poverty-stricken area of Nairobi, Kenya, East Africa.

Julie was born while her parents, Don and Joyce Hostetler of Bluffton, were serving as volunteers in neighboring Tanzania. She has developed a lasting interest in the children there. This will be her third visit to Africa as an adult.

Trinity Jenera adds extra summer services

A Tuesday evening service will be held weekly at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 301 North Main Street, Jenera, beginning on June 14 at 7:30 pm. The Tuesday service will be a slightly abbreviated version of the previous Sunday service. All are welcome and the church is handicapped accessible. More information is available at: tlcjenera.org

Bluffton Presbyterian Church hosting percussion ensemble

The Bluffton Presbyterian Church will have a percussion ensemble performing at the Pentecost service, June 12th at 10:30 a.m. Tanya Best will direct the large ensemble of church members and friends playing the last movement of David Gillingham^aEURTMs "Liturgical Music for Percussion Ensemble".

The piece quotes "Oh, for a Thousand Tongues to Sing" (John Wesley 1739). Instrumentation includes crotales (sometimes called "antique cymbals"), xylophone, marimba, vibraphone, bells, high-hat, triangle, tambourine, chimes, congas, tom-toms and piano.
