Jim King speaker at Rockport Memorial Day service

Rockport United Methodist Church will hold its annual Memorial Day service on Monday, May 30. The service will start at 11 a.m. in the cemetery and will progress to the church. The guest speaker will be Jim King of Bluffton.

Following the service, there will be a luncheon in the church basement consisting of sandwiches, salads, baked beans, pies, cake, coffee and punch.

The church is located at 5505 Rockport Road, Columbus Grove. The pastor is Rich Rakay. Everyone is welcome to attend.

First Mennonite Mother's Day event May 9

First Mennonite Church Mennonite Women will hold a Mother's Day event Monday, May 9, at the church. A 6 p.m. dinner is planned with four short puppet shows by Deborah Nisly afterward in the sanctuary.

Special readers' theater part of English Lutheran worship service Sunday

English Lutheran Church will present an Easter readers' theatre presentation, Sunday, May 1, the Second Sunday of Easter at 10:15 a.m., according to Rev. Kevin Mohr, pastor.

Please note the change in schedule: Sunday School will take place at 9 a.m. and the drama, which will include the celebration of Holy Communion, will be our "worship" experience that morning.

Eight youth confirmed Sunday at Trinity Lutheran, Jenera

Eight youth will be confirmed on Sunday, May 1, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jenera, during the 10:30 a.m. service.

The Confirmands are: Kenzie Alge, Anna Curth, Jacob Edwards, Kyle Krahn, Greg Lawrence, Megan Ritter, Kyle Sands and Kyle Strahm.

May 5 and 19 dates of next community meals

Two community meals are planned in May. Both are at the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center, at 6 p.m.

The May 5 meal is hosted by Ebenezer Mennonite Church. The May 19 meal is hosted by Mennonite Memorial Home. Meals are open to the public with no admission charge. Donations are accepted and go to the Bluffton Food Pantry.

BVHS Service of Remembrance held at First Lutheran Church, Findlay May 15

The 10th annual BVHS Service of Remembrance will be held at the First Lutheran Church at 109 E. Lincoln St. in Findlay on Sunday, May 15 at 2 p.m.

The non-denominational memorial service will honor BVHS patients and residents who died in 2010. All are welcome to attend the service, which will be followed by a reception.
