Bluffton Area Relay for Hope - 4:30 p.m. to midnight

It’s Bluffton Area Relay for Hope weekend. All activities are free and open to the public.

Activities are from 4:30 p.m. to midnight, Friday, June 21, at Bluffton Family Recreation, 215 Snider Road. All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society.

This year’s relay is a family-friendly event and includes a range of activities, according to Lynda Best of the Relay committee.

It's Shirley's Gourmet Popcorn Company's birthday party

Shirley's Gourmet Popcorn Co., Bluffton, celebrates Shirley's birthday on Saturday, June 22, with a day full of family-friendly events, according to Pete and Kim Suter.

Carnival games and buy-one-get-one specials highlight the event held downtown Bluffton, with 100 percent of sales being donated Lima Symphony Storytime program.

Glow Run in Bluffton on Friday evening

A Bluffton Relay Run/Walk for Hope 5-K Glow Run is set for Friday, June 21, at Bluffton Family Recreation.

The event is at BFR, 215 Snider Road, Bluffton, and takes place in conjunction with Bluffton’s Relay for Life event.

Registration starts at 9:30 p.m. and the race is at 10:30 p.m. A pre-registration form is attached below.

Day of the race registration is $25 for adults and $20 for youth. This includes shirts if they are still available. Registration is available online at www.bfronline.com/register.

Trinity United Methodist holds VBS June 17-19

Theme: "Surviving the Storm"

Bluffton Trinity United Methodist Church will hold its Vacation Bible School Monday, June 17, to Wednesday, June 19, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

This year's theme "Surviving the Storm" looks at Noah and his experiences in the ark. This three-day program includes skits, games, bible lessons and loads of fun.

Trinity UM is located at 2022 State Route 103, Bluffton.

This VBS program is for youth ages preschool through fifth grade.

Small scale beekeeping

Tuesday evening Transition Bluffton program

Join Transition Bluffton and Jon Tuttle for a field presentation on small scale beekeeping.  We will meet Tuesday, June 18, at 7 p.m. at Little Riley Creek, Jon and Amanda’s organic farm. 

The farm is located at 9255 Lugabill Road, about three miles south of Bluffton.  Tuttle will give a primer on beekeeping basics, including hive location and equipment.  

There will be time for questions and answers.  This will be a good demonstration of how we can respond to the declining bee population throughout the country.
