ONU Freed Center host to listening party to premiere radio drama

Thursday afternoon presentation of "The Overcoat" by Gogol

The Departments of Communication and Media Studies and Theatre Arts of Ohio Northern University will host a listening party for the premiere of ONU's first radio production, The Overcoat. ​

The listening party will occur on Thursday, May 3 ​at 4:30 p.m. at the Freed Center. The airing will be followed by a question and answer session with members of the cast and production staff.

Admission is free and open to the public. 

The Overcoat by Nikolai Gogol, dramatized for radio by Jim Poyser.

Spring wild flower walk in Motter Metro Park Tuesday

Don't forget the spring wild flower walk at Motter Metro Park at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 1, hosted by the Gardeners of the Bluffton/Pandora Area.

The walk is open to the public and led by a naturalist from the Johnny Appleseed Park District.

Allen County Museum hosts Bluffton history book program

"The Bluffton We Never Knew" presentation Sunday at 2 p.m.

Fred Steiner, author of “The Bluffton We Never Knew,” will talk about the book during a program at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 29, at the Allen County Museum, 620 Market St., Lima.

The book includes nearly 170 photos of Bluffton covering its first half-century as a village, from 1861 to 1911. Steiner will show several photos from the book and will point out things in the photos not generally seen by viewers.

The book includes several rare photographs from the museum’s own collection. Signed copies of the book will be available following the presentation.

Talk a wildflower walk in Motter Metro Park

Tuesday, May 1, with Gardeners of the Bluffton/Pandora Area

Time to take a Wildflower Walk at Motter Park with a naturalist from Johnny Appleseed Park District. 

The Wildflower Walk, sponsored by the Gardeners of the Bluffton/Pandora Area, begins at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday May 1. 

As with all GBPA lectures, all programs are free and open to the public.

Pedestrian and bicycle safety training

For law enforcement officers; plus book signing of bicycle adventure book

The Creating Healthy Communities (CHC) Program of Allen County Public Health hosts an “Enforcement for Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Training” from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday and Friday, April 26 and 27  at Lima Public Library. 

CHC is partnering with We Bike, Inc., experts on bicycle and pedestrian topics/issues, to assist with the implementation of a Pedestrian and Bicycle Law Enforcement Training Program to help improve pedestrian and bicycle safety across Allen county.

Six homes on historic home tour

Hosted by Hancock Historical Museum May 12-13

The Hancock Historical Museum will host the 2018 Historic Homes Tour Saturday and Sunday, May 12 and 13, according to Sarah Sisser, director.

The Historic Homes Tour has been a springtime favorite for more than 40 years.

The biennial event showcases the beautiful historic architecture of the City of Findlay and Hancock County with homes dating from the 1840s to the 1920s and encompassing a wide variety of architectural styles.
