29 straight NWC wins for boys' soccer team • 6th straight conference title

MIDDLE POINT - The visiting Bluffton boys soccer team swamped Lincolnview 7-1 Monday night in Northwest Conference play to clinch at least a tie for the league crown.

Bluffton improved to 12-0-1 and 4-0 in the NWC with the victory. The Lancers dropped to 2-7-4 and 1-4 in the NWC with the loss.

Betty "Fran" Henderson 1935-2020

Betty "Fran" Frances Henderson, 85, died Oct. 4, 2020, at Willow Ridge - Betty House in Bluffton.  Fran was born June 28, 1935, in Morristown, Tennessee, to the late Jack and Verdia (Wallace) Bryant. On Oct. 10, 1955, she married Homer Henderson who preceded her in death on Jan. 27, 2010. 

Fran was a homemaker. She attended Gateway Church in Findlay. Fran enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jim Brown was a retired machinist at Randall Bearing

James A. “Jim” Brown, 68, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2020, at 7:17 a.m. at his residence in Harrod.

He was born on April 11, 1952, in Lima, Ohio to Ronald H. and Eleanor (Graham) Brown who survive in Lima. On Oct. 15, 1972, Jim married Jill C. Miller and she survives in Harrod.

United Way of Greater Lima featured at Friday's chamber meeting

CEO Derek Stemen is a Bluffton University alum

Friday's Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce member meeting will feature a program by the United Way of Greater Lima, of which Bluffton is now a member, according to Paula Scott, chamber CEO. 

Attendees will meet Derek Stemen, the president and CEO of the local chapter, and learn about the new “Better Together” 2020 campaign.

Bluffton joined the Lima chapter this year and Melinda Bowden of PromoHits is serving on the campaign leadership team.

How foggy was it?

How foggy was it this morning? Well, you couldn't see the Buckeye from the bank. Here's three photos taken early this morning by Mary Pannabecker Steiner. The fog caused Bluffton schools to cancel classes.
