Artistic arctic

Meanwhile, here's what up at Bluffton middle school

While lots is happening at the Bluffton elementary this winter (see story above), meanwhile the middle school is equally as busy. Here's some of the news items from the middle school website.

Elementary Christmas service project collects $1,735 - here's an update on elementary winter programs

Lots of events are in progress at the Bluffton Elementary in January and February. Some of that information follows (open the attachment at the bottom of this story for the January elementary newsletter, which lists additional items.)

ELEMENTARY CHRISTMAS SERVICE PROJECT:  The “Coins for Kids” project was a huge success. The elementary collected $1,735.39 to purchase gifts for three needy families in our community.

Bluffton Music Boosters now on Facebook

The Bluffton Music Boosters invite Icon viewers to "like" their new Facebook page.

Amy Mikesell said, "We are hoping that it will be a new source of communication to parents, grandparents and community members of the activity and needs of the Music Boosters.  We are simply looking for "likes" at "Bluffton Music Boosters."  

The pages includes lots of  photos from the Christmas concerts.

49 cent first-class post rates remain; other U.S. Postal costs go up on Jan. 17

The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) will implement new postage rates on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016, for several mail classes and special services. The increases do not affect the price of a one-ounce first-class letter, currently at 49 cents. Click here for a chart listing all rates.

Music Together 10-week class for children starting

Registration is open for a 10-week Winter Music Together class for children, led by Laura Hartzler. Contact Hartzler at [email protected] for complete details.

The first session is at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 11, at First Mennonite Church, Bluffton.

Hartzler said: "This winter we are singing the songs and chants of the bongos  collection. We are tapping our rhythm sticks and playing kitchen instruments to American folksong "This Old Man."
