The three mayoral candidates in their own words

Judy Augsburger, Jerry Cupples and David Steiner shared their views and visions of Bluffton to 92 persons who attended a Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce mayoral candidate forum on Tuesday evening in the middle school.

Moderator Stanley Scott, Bluffton University political science professor, led the forum. Duane Bollenbacher served as timer.

On an evening when voters across the nation watched a televised Republican presidential debate, Bluffton held its own “debate.” The event was Oct. 28.

Bluffton’s chamber invited Bluffton’s three 2015 mayoral candidates to a mayoral candidate forum. Held in the middle school, 92 persons attended to hear each candidate’s view on a range of village issues.

Lasting over one-hour, candidates provided opinions on 15 questions, allowing a 90-second answer for each response.

Senior Center celebrates 45 years in November

45 years on Main Street.

It’s a busy month in November for the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center, 132 N. Main St.

The Center will celebrate its 45th anniversary with an open house from 4 to 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 5. The celebration includes cake and hors d’oeuvres. Following the open house is one of the twice-monthly community meals, which starts at 6 p.m.

During its Monday, Nov. 9, annual meeting, members who died from Nov. 1, 2014, through Oct. 31, 2015, will be remembered.

Bradley Joseph medical missions scholarship available

Applications are now being accepted for the Bradley Joseph Memorial Scholarship for Medical Missions. This scholarship will assist northwest Ohio pharmacy and nursing students who wish to participate in medical mission trips.

Applicants must be pursuing a career in the medical field in Ohio or Michigan. Priority will be given to pharmacy or nursing students at Ohio Northern University and the University of Findlay. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required.

Bluffton's trick-or-treat Oct. 29, 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Bluffton's trick-or-treat night is Thursday, Oct. 29, according to Judy Augsburger, mayor.

Hours are from 6 to 7:30 p.m. (Village water bills incorrectly stated the hours lasting until 8:30 p.m.)

Chamber's mayoral candidate forum Wednesday night in middle school

Bluffton voters have a chance to make an educated decision on who to vote for in Bluffton’s mayoral race on Nov. 3.

The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce invites voters to a mayoral candidate forum at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 28, in the Bluffton middle school cafetorium. Door open at 7 p.m.

Three candidates seek the mayor’s office in the Tuesday, Nov. 3, general election. The winner’s term begins Jan. 1, 2016. Candidates are Judy Augsburger, Jerry Cupples and David Steiner.
