Benefit for Dukes family will take place Saturday

The benefit fundraiser for the Tom Dukes family, area resident who recently died of colon cancer will take place this weekend, according to First National Bank, who is assisting in the benefit.

A chicken barbecue with live entertainment is planned on Saturday, Jan. 10, at the Columbus Grove American Legion Post 516, 412 Plum St., Columbus Grove.

Pre-sale tickets are now on sale. Persons may dine-in or carry-out from 5 to 7 p.m. The event will also include gun raffles, live and silent auctions and a 50-50 drawing.

For Icon viewers who are not interested in web or app-based weight loss options, BFR’s Fit4Life Support program offers face-to-face connections to learn about healthy eating and exercise, according to Carole Enneking of BFR.

BFR youth sport classes start next week

The next BFR Sports and Fitness session of sport skill and pre-school programs will feature basketball, dodgeball, football, soccer volleyball, swim and tennis options, according to Carole Enneking, of BFR.

Youth in grades Kindergarten through grade 3 will learn fundamental sport skills in basketball (Thursdays 3:30-4:30 p.m.), football (Tuesdays 3:30-4:30 p.m.), and soccer (U7 Fun held on Fridays 5:15-6 p.m.)

Pack your bags - Bluffton Senior Center announces 2015 trip schedule

Let's get out the travel guides.

The Bluffton Senior Center has a full lineup of trips scheduled for 2015 including Florida, Yellowstone, Myrtle Beach, Oregon and Australia and New Zealand.

On March 14 the group will leave for an eight-day trip to Florida with a stop at the Biltmore Estate on the way. While in Florida the group will spend a day at the Holy Land Experience, an amusement park designed to look like Jerusalem during the time of Jesus.

Blanchard Valley Hospital’s Woman Wise Mammography hosting free ammography screening days for qualifying women & men

Blanchard Valley Hospital’s Woman Wise Mammography will be offering free screening mammograms Friday, February 6 and Friday, April 24 at Woman Wise located in the EasternWoods Outpatient Center, 15900 Medical Drive South, Findlay, as part of the Hancock County Mammography Screening Initiative (HCMSI).

Appointments for free mammograms will be available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to those who qualify. Women and men must meet eligibility criteria related to age, breast cancer risk and household income.

ALS Association meeting Jan. 22 at Bluffton Town Hall

The ALS Association Central & Southern Ohio Chapter will host its second ALS
Meet & Greet session in Bluffton on January 22, 2015. The gathering is
designed for people with ALS, their families and caregivers, and others who
have been caregivers in the past for someone with ALS.

The purpose of the meeting is to share information and resources that can be
helpful to those who are impacted by ALS, and to share insights gained as
part of the ALS journey.
