Registrations accepted now for Sept. 22 chamber university business showcase

Area businesses' best opportunity to introduce themselves to Bluffton University students is Thursday, Sept. 22. This year's Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce business-university showcase takes place in Marbeck Center from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. that day.

Based on previous showcases up to 25 businesses are expected to participate. Registered businesses will have a table provided. Businesses may provide hand-outs to students and may have separate drawings for prizes during the event. No food giveaways are permitted, but businesses may give away candy.

Senior Center has one-half price plant sale

The Bluffton Senior Center is having a half-price plant sale. All plants are on sale now until Aug. 31. Stop in and see the wide selection. Also on sale are used DVDs, VHS tapes and puzzles. Business hours are Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

BFR Labor Day weekend 5k/Walk set Sept. 3

BFR's Labor Day 5k Run/ Walk is Saturday, Sept. 3. The entry fee is $15. The event also featured a one-mile fun run and a Pump and Run Challenge. Race begins at 9 a.m. More information at www.bfronline.com or contact at 419-358-4150.

Bluffton Hospital new ER department now open

Bluffton Hospital is now treating patients in its new Emergency Department. Those seeking care from the Emergency Department can enter through the ER entrance on the corner of Harmon and Kibler Streets.

The newly opened ER will allow Bluffton Hospital to care for an increasing number of patients with more private treatment areas than the previous ER space. It also features a more private registration area.
