Doris Hamman was a retired nurse

Doris Gene Hamman, 93, died Nov. 9, 2016, at Willow Ridge-Frieda House of Mennonite Home Communities, Bluffton. 

Doris was born Oct. 27, 1923, in Allen County to the late Calvin and Huldah (Badertscher) Garmatter. On April 4, 1948, in Torre Pellice, Italy, she married Robert C. Hamman and he preceded her in death on July 26, 2002.

Wayne E. Marquart, retired farmer, was a 1953 Cory-Rawson HS graduate

Retired Eagle Township farmer, Wayne E. Marquart, died at 2:03 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.

Wayne was born Dec. 18, 1934 near Jenera, Ohio, to the late Clifford and Leona (Benner) Marquart. He married Barbara Grose on Feb. 20, 1955.

Wayne and Barbara lived in Schwabach/Nuremburg, Germany, in 1956 and 1957
where he was stationed with the 56th Field Artillery Battalion, 8th Infantry Division, US Army.

Marilyn Hart, with her husband, owned Bill's Country Butcher Shop in Bluffton

Marilyn Hart, 85, died Nov. 6, 2016, at her residence. Marilyn was born Aug. 25, 1931, in Allen Park, Michigan, to the late Harry and Helen (Nonnamaker) Moore. On March 17, 1951, she married William Hart who preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 2006.

Marilyn retired from Lee County Transit in Ft. Myers, Florida, had worked at Ex-Cello Corporation, Bluffton, and also owned and operated with her husband, Bill's Country Butcher Shop. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Bluffton and was a graduate of Bluffton High School.

Ralph Steiner, Jr., was a life-long farmer

Mt. Cory High School graduate, WWI veteran

Ralph Steiner, Jr., 92 died Nov. 3, 2016, at 4:17 a.m. at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.  Ralph was born Feb. 26, 1924, in Mt. Cory to the late Ralph T. and Joyce (Amstutz) Steiner. On July 6, 1957, he married Beverly Schutz Steiner who survives.

Ralph was a graduate of Mt. Cory High School and was a life-long farmer. He was a past member of Grace Mennonite Church, Pandora, and College First Church of God in Findlay. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Philippines.

Anna Ruth Balmer was a retired Bluffton Main Street business owner

She and her husband, Harold, owned Balmer's, women's clothing store; Greg's Pharmacy located there today

Retired Bluffton business woman Anna Ruth Balmer, 93, of Bluffton, died Oct. 31, 2016, at Maplecrest, Bluffton.

She was born April 30, 1923, in Nappanee, Indiana, to the late Ezra and Anna (Christophal) Mullett. On Dec. 5, 1943, she married Harold Balmer who preceded her in death on April 28, 2012.

Anna was owner and operator of Balmer’s, Bluffton. She was an active member of First Mennonite Church, Bluffton.  Anna enjoyed sewing and polka dancing.  She designed the outfits used for the Maypole dance during May Day at Bluffton University.

Daniel DeLong was retired CEO and president of Triplett Corp.

Following purchase of Bluffton company from Penril Corp.

Daniel J. DeLong, 64, died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, at his residence after an extended illness.

He was born Jan. 12, 1952, in Schenectady, New York, to Jesse and Shirley DeLong who preceded him in death. On Nov. 6, 1971, he married Claudia J. Bowman, who survives.

Mr. DeLong retired as President and CEO of Triplett Corp. in Bluffton. He was also the Executive VP and CFO of Triplett for 10 years prior to becoming President.
