Mt. Cory student at ONU wins graphic design award

Ohio Northern University student Lauren Hector, a senior graphic design major from Mt. Cory, was chosen as one of the winners of the 2015 Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Ohio (AICUO) Award for Excellence in the Visual Arts (EVA).

Hector, who was honored at a banquet April 8, will have her work featured in the Roy G. Biv Gallery as a part of the May Gallery Hop in Columbus’s Short North Arts District. Hector was chosen as one of six winners from among 27 nominated senior artists from independent colleges across Ohio.

Wayne Matter, whose footprint is in countless Bluffton projects, turns 90

Wayne Matter, who spent much of his adult life in the midst of Village of Bluffton activities, celebrates his 90th birthday on April 21.

An open house takes place from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, at The Centre at Bluffton, 601 N. Main St.  The event is open to the public.

His political career includes:
• Bluffton council member, 1960-65
• Bluffton mayor, 1966-75
• Bluffton village treasurer, 1976-80

A Pandora "Mommy and Me Party" on April 18 that you won't want to miss

Hilty Preschool & Child Care will open their doors to direct sales consultants crafters on Saturday, April 18, for a “Mommy & Me Party.”  

The event, now in its second year, takes place from 9 a.m. to 1 pm at Hilty Preschool & Child Care, 304 Hilty Drive, Pandora. It is open to the public and will be for the entire family, with many vendors geared toward children.

Three young artists put on awesome exhibit

The art students of Krysti’s Music Studio presented an art show Saturday morning in the town hall.

Students whose work will be represented include Brice Hogan, Kaelynn Holland and Danielle Novak. Teachers are Vickie Garmon and Abby Graber.

Over 400 volunteers donated 9,090 hours to MHCO in 2014

The invitation read: “Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio volunteers are like an assortment of ice cream flavors. You just make life happier for everyone!”

More than 140 volunteers responded to the invitation to the annual volunteer appreciation banquet held on April 8 at Ebenezer Mennonite Church.
