Bluffton council approved two EMS promotions on Monday.

Jan Basinger, EMS chief, recommended to move Holly Bertka from assistant chief to captain and to move Rick Skilliter to assistant chief.

Basinger told council:

“Holly is a valuable officer and handles secretarial work and is treasurer of the department.”

“Rick has been doing our training for years and this requires many hours of work and he has never been compensated for it. He is a tremendous help through this pandemic and is a very valuable resource to the community.”

Answer: Very creatively

Question: How do you celebrate a birthday in groups of 10 or less and with conditions where blowing out candles are verboten?

How do you celebrate a birthday in groups of 10 or less and with conditions where blowing out candles are verboten?

Very creatively.

That’s how the Suters celebrated wife, mother and grandmother Linda Suter’s most recent journey around the sun. The celebration took place on Sunday afternoon in the driveway of Bob and Linda’s residence at 122 Grove Street.

And, it was a party of exactly 10.

The happy birthday tune was performed in four-part harmony. On the left side are Ray and Beth Raeburn and son, Andrew.
