Three Bluffton police officers recognized for outstanding work

Three Bluffton police officers were recognized for outstanding achievements during the Sept. 6 Bluffton council meeting. Ryan Burkholder, interim police chief, made the following presentations:

10 theft reports in Bluffton during July totaled $6,633

Bluffton police report that during the month of July the amount of money in the village lost by theft totaled $6,633.

That figure is part of the July police report provided to Bluffton council. Additional information from the July report show that the police had 326 calls for service, 43 traffic stops and 6 citations handed out.

There were 30 complaints reported during July. Of those 10 included theft.

Friday accident: Life Flight takes one injured person to St. Vincent's

Friday's interstate accident details are now available according to information from the Findlay post of the State Highway Patrol.

Bluffton police, fire and EMS assisted the patrol at the crash scene.

According to the Patrol: A Utah man suffered life-threatening injuries in a three-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer on northbound Interstate 75, near the Ohio 235 exit.

Multi-vehicle accident near Mt. Cory closes north and south I-75

Bluffton rescue crews are on the scene of a traffic-stopping accident on Interstate 75. Bluffton sirens were heard around 1:30 p.m. (Friday, Aug. 26)

Both northbound and southbound I-75 was at a standstil at 2:15 p.m. Southbound was also backup up several miles north of Mt. Cory. Northbound was backed up to Beaverdam.

It appears that two semi trucks and at least one car are involved, however more vehicles could also be part of the accident. One semi is off the interstate in a field. Another is off the interstate.

Bluffton police assist Humane Society with animal case

Bluffton police officers investigated a citizen complaint late Friday (Aug. 19) about unhealthy conditions at the TLU Rescue located at 142 Vance St., Bluffton, according to Rick Skilliter, police chief. 

The initial investigation led officers to a Greding Street residence.

Officers requested the assistance of the Allen County Humane Society and the Allen County Dog Warden. As a result of the investigation, over 60 animals were removed from the facility and or residence.

The case has been turned over to the Humane Society for any further action.
