Police docket for February

Sgt. Matt Oglesbee of the Bluffton Police Department provided the Icon with the police docket for February.

Feb. 2
-Police responded to a non-injury traffic crash on NB I-75 at Mile Post 141 where a vehicle driven by Steven Mays, 60, Elida lost control  on ice and spun into the median striking the wire barrier.

Hancock County Sheriff reminds drivers to play it safe St. Patrick's Day

As St. Patrick's Day approaches, the Hancock County Sheriff" Office reminds drivers not to get behind the wheel if they've been drinking. 

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports over 700 people were killed nationwide in crashes involving a drunk driver during the St. Patrick's Day holiday from 2006 to 2010.

Pandora couple killed in car accident in Florida

Two Pandora residents were killed on March 3 in Florida when their vehicle collided with a police car.

The Fort Myers, Florida, News-Press reported that the couple, John and Marilyn Steffen of Pandora, stopped their 2003 Cadillac shortly after 9:30 a.m. at an intersection before turning left when they were hit on the driver’s side by a Lee County, Florida, police cruiser.
