Maybelle Schifferely was 104

Maybelle Marion Schifferly, 104, died early Wednesday morning, March 17, 2021, at Kenton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  Maybelle was born June 17, 1916, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Edward and Elizabeth Schoonover. On Dec. 23, 1939. she married William Samuel Schifferly who preceded her in death on July 15, 1988.

Maybelle worked at Bluffton Hospital for eight years and was a homemaker who did child-care from her home. She was a member of the Bluffton Missionary Church.

Bill Herr remembers: We had dairy, hogs, and 200 over Leghorn chickens. When I was a senior in high school I milked 40 head of cows before I went to school in the morning. In 1964, when we finally sold the cattle we had 37 cows.

Putnam County entrepreneur spotlight Thursday

BCE update on Titan Trolley, Well Grounded Cafe and Putnam CIC

The Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs will host an online discussion about new business development in Putnam County at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 18.

Guests will be Amy Sealts of the Putnam County Community Improvement Corporation (PCCIC), Andy Beaston of Titan Trolley LLC, and Tom Giesken of Well Grounded Cafe.

A 30-minute interview will be recorded for YouTube, followed by a Q&A session with live guests.

1,673 food items and supplies collected

Bluffton Boy Scout troop 256 was busy and area residents were generous on Saturday. The Scouting for Food pick up was a great success as 1,673 food and supplies items were collected. Donations went to the Blufton Community Assistance Program's food pantry. Here are several photos from Saturday provided by the Boy Scouts.
