Pirates capture Northwest Conference golf title

Mason Roth, BHS coach, named coach of the year; Drew Wilson named player of the year

Bluffton won the Northwest Conference golf tournament in an 18-hole tournament played at the Bluffton Golf Club in Bluffton on Thursday with a team total score of 340. 

The first-place tournament finish also clinched the overall 2019 conference golf championship for the Pirates.

Bluffton defeats Ada 70 to 50

Bluffton High School's football team won an offensive battle, stopping Ada 70 to 50 at Ada.

Bluffton's Tucker Neff set a new single game rushing record of  316 yard, eclipsing Josh Falk's record of 309 yards, also against Ada in 2006.

Bluffton netters fall to Cougars

BLUFFTON - The Bluffton girls tennis team lost 4-1 to visiting Van Wert Thursday evening.

The Lady Pirate netters drop to 8-6 with the defeat.

Senior Erin Hotmire posted the lone Bluffton win at first singles. The Pirate ace cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Grace Lott to improve to 13-3 this season.

Pirate junior Olivia Barnes lost a tough match at second singles by a 6-4, 7-5 score.

Bluffton plays at Archbold Saturday, September 21 at 11 a.m.

Bluffton volleyballers beat Panthers

Taylor Schwab led the Pirates with 18 kills, 18 digs and three aces

PAULDING - The visiting Bluffton volleyball club defeated Paulding in four sets in a Northwest Conference match Thursday night.

The Lady Pirates improved to 10-5 and 3-1 in the NWC with the 25-19, 21-25, 25-21, 25-22 victory. Paulding fell to 5-6 overall and 1-2 in the NWC with the defeat.

Taylor Schwab led the Pirates with 18 kills, 18 digs and three aces. Kylie Stackouse knocked down 13 kills and added 10 digs to go along with five aces and three blocks.

BLUFFTON - The Bluffton doubles tandems led the host Pirate girls tennis team to a 3-2 defeat of Kenton Tuesday evening.

With their fifth straight win, the Lady Pirate netters improved to 8-4.

Pirate junior Olivia Barnes won at second singles by a 6-2, 6-2 score.

Juniors Pearl Lewandowski and Julia Smallcomb combined to win at first doubles 6-1, 6-1.

Sophomores Libby Frazier and Ellie Nickels also won easily at second doubles by a perfect 6-0, 6-0 score.

Boys' soccer: Pirates, Falcons tie

Bluffton hosts non-league rival Ottawa-Glandorf Saturday

MT. BLANCHARD - The Bluffton and host Riverdale boys soccer teams played to a 0-0 tie Tuesday evening.

The tie ran the Pirate record to 8-1-1, and extended their streak of matches without a loss to seven games. Their six-match win string came to an end with the tie.

The Falcons put six of their 10 shots on goal, while the Pirates got off eight shots, three on goal.

Bluffton made six saves to three by Riverdale.

Bluffton hosts non-league rival Ottawa-Glandorf Saturday, Sept. 21 at 10 a.m.
