James Engle 1958-2015

James E. Engle, 57, died on Friday, Nov. 27, 2015, at 12:58 p.m. at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.      

He was born on Feb. 8, 1958 in Lima, Ohio to Phillip E. and Barbara Ann  (Underwood) Engle. His father is deceased and his mother survives in Bluffton, Ohio. He married Tammy J. Watkins on June 15, 2002 and she survives in Gomer.      

James worked at General Dynamics for 33 years as a welder. He was a 1976 graduate of Allen East High School.  He attended the County Line Church of the Brethren of rural Ada.

Sheerer named HCAC Player of the Week

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University’s Macey Sheerer (Bucyrus) helped the Beavers move to 4-0 following wins over Heidelberg and Kalamazoo and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

The sophomore standout scored 25 points with 10 rebounds in an 85-79 win over Heidelberg on Tuesday and added 12 points with seven rebounds and two assists in a 74-58 win at Kalamazoo. For the week, Sheerer averaged 18.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game while shooting 63.6 percent (14-for-22) from the field.

The air outside today was sharp and cold, but inside the Betty House of Willow Ridge I found plenty of warmth. It immediately felt like home.

What's Thanksgiving weekend in Bluffton without a parade and Christmas lights?

Over 100 units including The Grinch, lots of Shriner clowns, Allen County Sheriff Posse, and many floats from Bluffton organizations.

With the Citizens National Bank time and temperature reading 44 degrees, Bluffton celebrated its rite of the holidays with the Blaze of Lights on Nov. 28.

All week the Icon will feature photos and videos of the Blaze.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Bluffton University women’s basketball team remained unbeaten, dispatching the Kalamazoo College Hornets, 74-58, on Saturday, Nov. 28. The Beavers improved to 4-0 on the season, while the Hornets record slipped to 1-2.
