State officials sign House Bill 2 at GROB Systems

For a moment this morning, Bluffton was the center of Ohio, as state government leaders held a bill-sign event here.

Attending a signing ceremony for Ohio House Bill 2, held at GROB Systems, were Gov. Mike DeWine, Lt. Gov. Jon Husted, Ohio Senate President Larry Obhof, and Jon Cross, of the 83rd district, a primary sponsor of the bill.

The event was witnessed by about 60 persons including area elected officials, the media and GROB associates.

Seth Gladwell, Icon student artist of the month

Seth Gladwell, a Bluffton High School senior, is the Icon's student artist of the month.

He has taken Art One, Design One, Ceramics One, Mural and Cremices Two. 

"In Ceramics Two I tried something new this year where I added strips of clay to the top of my pot that I threw on the pottery wheel and then continued to throw it larger," he said. 

"This allowed me to get it the height that I wanted it to be. This took me about two weeks to throw.

2003 middle school quiz bowl team

This 2003 Bluffton Middle School quiz bowl team was tournament champions for the Lima North tournament held that year, winning five of five matches.

Rev. Thomas Holmes serving as First United Methodist interim pastor

Is retired executive director of Covenant Ministry Services, Lima

Rev. Thomas M. Holmes of Lima, is serving as interim pastor of First United Methodist Church. In addition, he is interim pastor at Rockport United Methodist.

He is the retired executive director of Covenant Ministry Services, Lima, and as a United Methodist clergy, has served in interim pastorates in Paulding, Payne and Forest Park, Lima.
