Committee for Better Schools hosts levy info meetings

The Committee for Better Schools announced three community levy informational meetings, according to Greg Denecker, Bluffton superintendent.

These are held at 7 p.m. in the elementary library:
• Wednesday, March 2
• Monday, March 7
• Wednesday March 9 

These meetings concern the renewal of a one-half percent income tax renewal for permanent improvements. The levy is on the Tuesday, March 15, ballot.

Perparing for music contest

Bluffton High School musician Katie Frazier, senior viola player, rehearses with the BHS string ensemble. The ensemble goes to music contest Friday in Bowling Green. Rachael E. Lewis directs the ensemble and the group will perform in Class "B" . Selections include "Contrasts in E minor," "Lullaby" and "M to the 3rd Power."

Sunday's Masterworks performance features two area soloists

The two featured soloists in Sunday’s Masterworks performance of Antonio Vivaldi’s “Dixit Dominus” at Bluffton University are returning to their roots.

The concert is at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 28, in Yoder Recital Hall. Dr. Mark J. Suderman, Bluffton professor of music, will conduct the performance. Admission is free, however, a free-will offering will be taken.

Lots of winter-spring youth session choices at BFR

Bluffton Family Recreation announces its winter and spring sessions, which start March 1. Here are the class options:
 
Rookie sports – March 1 to April 5 and April 19 to May 24, 4:15 to 5 p.m. For youth 4-6. Will play several sports. $20 members, $40 non-members.
 
Swim lessons – (at Comfort Inn) –Thursdays March 3 to April 7
Aqua kids – 5:30-6 p.m., ages 4-6, $15 members, $30 non-members

Five Pirates receive all-NWC honors

Five Bluffton High School boys' senior basketball players received honorable mention listing on the all-Northwest Conference team announced earlier this week.

Honored were:
• Mitchell Ault
• Nick Friesen
• Joel Siefker
• Joe Schriner
• Brett Rumer

An attachment lists final NWC standings and first and second player players.

We've not seen the end of this terrific photo.

We predict severall things:
• it will eventually be in a high school yearbook when Bracyn is a senior. 

• it will also be on a high school graduation invitation.
• chances are good it might even appear in a wedding photo display some day, too.
• adding it to Facebook, it will now reach across the globe.
