Bluffton Cattle Club members successful at Allen County Fair

Here's a list of prize winners

The Bluffton 4-H Cattle Club members had a success at the Allen County Fair. Here are their awards:

Grace Myers - reserve champion pen of 2 meat chickens, 1st place division 1
pen of 2 meat chickens, Reserve champion senior poultry showmanship.

Greta Myers - reserve champion beginner poultry showmanship.

Xavier Navarro won Champion Dutch Rabbit, and 3rd place satin fur.

‘Allergy, Asthma & Lung Health’ presentation Sept. 12

Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) will host “Allergy, Asthma & Lung Health,” a presentation of the “Live and Learn” series, to educate the community about allergens affecting the lungs as well as asthma triggers and symptoms. 

This event will be held on Thursday, Sept. 12, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Marathon Auditorium of Blanchard Valley Hospital, 1900 S. Main St., Findlay. A boxed lunch will be provided during the event.

Questioin: Did you know Bluffton Family Recreation has added over 22 group exercises since last February?

"We are having so much fun," Daniel Tinch, BFR executive director, says. "We want to make sure we are still offering classes area residents are interested in, and that we are provided quality group exercise experiences."

To assist BFR in continuing its group exercise experiences, Icon viewers are invited to take a brief survey, to provide feedback to BFR.

Opening university convo

Students pause during Dr. Beth Taylor Mack’s Opening Convocation presentation at Bluffton University to look into the crowd and connect with a fellow classmate. Taylor Mack shared about the importance of relationships in happy societies. During the 2019-20 academic year, students, faculty and staff will explore living lives of wholeness and joy through the Civic Engagement Theme “Living Our Best Lives.”

Opening convocation at Bluffton University

During a time when, as a whole, our nation’s perceived well-being is declining, Dr. Beth Taylor Mack, director of health behavior and wellness for YMCA of the USA, emphasized the importance of relationships to first-year students during Bluffton University’s Opening Convocation. Her presentation, “The Power of Relationships: How Connectivity Impacts Well-Being,” directly related to this year’s summer reading for first-year students, “The Geography of Bliss” by Eric Weiner.

Local students on Rhodes State dean's list

Rhodes State College, Lima, announces its dean’s list for the summer semester. Below are the area students on the summer dean's list.

To be eligible for this full-time Dean’s List, a student must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours and earn a 3.5 grade point average or higher.
