Main Street Mexican restaurant will reopen under new ownership

The former Tu Pubelo Mexican Restaurant has a new owner.

Don Jose Mexican Restaurant will reopen in the 142 N. Main St., location in late October, according to Rafael Arciga of Lima, the new owner.

Arciga grew up in California in a family that operated five Mexican restaurants. He said that he is very excited about opening the restaurant in Bluffton. He and his wife, Venecia, will operate it.

“We will offer an authentic Mexican menu,” he said. “We will also be open for breakfasts and we will offer delivery services.”

BIG WIN! - Pirate boys' soccer team trips up Ottawa-Glandorf

Goals by Smucker and Tatarkov were enough for the Bluffton High School boys' soccer team to suprise Ottawa-Glandorf 2-1 on Oct. 1 in a game at Bluffton.

The Pirates are 8-5 after the win and the Titans drop to 10-2. Bluffton now has a three-game winning streak and has won five of the last six games versus WBL power Ottawa-Glandorf.

Bluffton's trick-or-treat night is set for Thursday, Oct. 29. Hours are 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Emmanuel UCC invites community to join in its Oct. 24 fall festival day

Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 8375 Phillips Road, invites Icon viewers to a Saturday, Oct. 24, Fall Festival Day at the church. Set up starts at 3 p.m. and the event is from 4 to 7 p.m.

The event includes "trunk-or-treat," hay rides, pumpkin decorating, food and fun.

Talks to address climate change, supercomputing at university Forum

Climate change will be the focus of a Bluffton University Forum at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, in Yoder Recital Hall.

At the same time, in the first installment of a new program highlighting student research, Bluffton student Daniel Piero will discuss his supercomputing internship in the Musselman Library Reading Room.

Both presentations are free and open to the public.

University concert to feature two choirs, band Oct. 11

Bluffton University will host a concert featuring its Camerata Singers, University Chorale and Concert Band at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, in Yoder Recital Hall.

The performance, part of Homecoming weekend activities at Bluffton, is free and open to the public. A free-will offering will be taken for music scholarships during intermission.
