Northwest Ohio Diabetes Association awards scholarships to area students

Several area students have been awarded scholarships in the amount of $500 each from the Northwest Ohio Diabetes Association. Those earning scholarship awards include:

    Nicholas Bowden – 2013 Findlay High School graduate attending The Ohio State University and majoring in actuarial science.

    Ben Davis – 2012 Tiffin Columbian High School graduate attending The Ohio State University and majoring in business.

    Katelynn Driggers – 2013 Carey High School graduate attending Bluffton University and majoring in education/Spanish.

Free program on wellness and weight loss June 29 at BFR

A free program on contagious wellness and weight loss will be held at 5:30 p.m., Monday, June 29, at Bluffton Family Recreation, 2015 Snider Road, Bluffton, according to Jeff Reichardt of the 20/30 Fast Track Program.

“If you are interested in contagious wellness and would like to know why seven hormones prevent you from enjoying contagious wellness and weight loss, please join us for the informative program,” he said.

Captain James Riley - namesake of Riley Creek (aka Dr. Darrell Groman) will entertain GOBA audience with tales of the 1800s

The namesake of Riley Creek - Sea Captain James Riley - will be in Bluffton for Sunday's GOBA actitives. He will talk about his experiences, which include surveying Riley Creek and traveling across the globe.

His talk, open to the public, is at 5 p.m., either outdoors in GOBAville, along Rosenberger Drive and Elm Street, or in case of rain, in Marbeck Center. (Captain Riley is also known as Dr. Darrell Groman.)

Funeral service for Violet Moser on June 20

Violet Ruth Moser, 95 died June 17, 2015, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.

She was born April 2, 1920, in Pandora to the late Walter and Margaret (Naas) Basinger. On May 6, 1941 she married Wayne Moser who preceded her in death on Oct. 15, 2006.

She graduated from Pandora High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Bluffton.
