Nine holiday concerts on Bluffton's calendar - here's the list

It’s Christmas concert season. Monday launched the concerts as the Bluffton 4th and 5th grade band and strings performed in the middle school cafetorium. This week and next week everyone in Bluffton will be humming holiday tunes.

Here's the schedule:

On Friday, Dec. 6, at 7:30 p.m. in Yoder Recital Hall is the Bluffton University Christmas concert.

On Sunday, Dec. 8, at 4 p.m. in Founders Hall is the 118th performance of Handel’s “Messiah,” by the Bluffton Choral Society.

Dec. 13 chamber breakfast and workshop topic: Social Security

Social Security is the theme of the Friday, Dec. 13, Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce breakfast. A complete, free breakfast will be served from 7 to 7:30 a.m. The breakfast meeting is from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. in the third floor of the Bluffton town hall.

Myrna Engelhardt was co-owner of Englehardt Landscaping

 

Myrna A. Engelhardt, 71, of Bluffton died at 2:55 pm Dec. 3, 2013, at the Wexner Medical Center, Columbus. She was born March 8, 1942, in Wapakoneta to the late Ned K. and Mary E. Harshbarger Krapf. On March 10, 1962 she married David Engelhardt and he survives.

Bluffton University places 23 fall athletes on Academic All-HCAC

The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference recently announced the fall honorees of the HCAC All-Academic awards for the 2013-14 school year. Twenty three Bluffton University athletes were recognized for their efforts in the classroom. Football led the way for the Beavers with seven honorees. Women's soccer and men's soccer both checked in with six honorees.

Arielle O'Neil has high girls' series in Hot Shot League at Southgate

Arielle O'Neil bowled a 220 series in the Southgate Lanes Hot Shot League last week for the high series for girls.

The youth league high series and high games report is in an attachment at the bottom of this story.

Food boxes available for households in Pandora-Gilboa

The churches of Pandora and Gilboa are offering food boxes for households in the Pandora-Gilboa School District. The boxes are designed to provide nine meals for a family of four. 

In order to pick up a box, you must register by calling 419-384-3038 by 5 pm on Monday Dec. 16.  Boxes will be available to be picked up on Saturday, Dec. 21,  at 11 a.m. at the Grace Mennonite Church located at 502 E. Main St., Pandora.
