Bluffton University president-elect, introduced here March 19

Yoder Recital Hall reception open to public

Dr. Jane Wood, president-elect of Bluffton University, will speak to students, faculty, staff and community members during a public introduction at 4 p.m. on Monday, March 19, in Yoder Recital Hall.

The event will include a welcome from Kent Yoder, chair of the Bluffton University Board of Trustees, and comments from Cheryl Hacker, vice chair of the Board of Trustees and chair of the presidential search committee.
 
A reception in the lobby of Yoder will follow the formal comments. Community members are invited to welcome Dr. Wood and her husband, Wayne McGaugh, to the community.
 
Dr. Wood was named president-elect in February. Starting on July 1, 2018, she will serve as the t10th president of Bluffton in its 119-year history.

Dr. Wood currently serves as the vice president of academic affairs and dean at Mount Marty College, a Benedictine liberal arts and co-educational institution in Yankton, S.D. Her previous professional positions were at Westminster College, in New Wilmington, Pa.; Park University and University of Missouri, both in Kansas City, Mo.; and at Baker University in Baldwin City, Kan.
 
Her experience in higher education includes positions as a tenured faculty member, department chair, academic dean and vice president. Dr. Wood earned her Ph.D. and master’s degree in English literature from the University of Kansas and a bachelor’s degree in English literature from the University of Missouri.
