Eddie Romick 1930-2011
G. Eddie Romick, 81 of rural Rawson died on Monday, July 11, 2011, at his residence. He was born in Arlington on June 6, 1930, to the late Luther W. and Maxine L. (Krout) Romick.
He was a 1948 graduate of Rawson High School. On August 28, 1949, he married V. Ermajean Thomas and she survives along with their children; Michael E. (Cindy) Romick of Rawson, Daniel J. Romick of Marblehead, Shelley J. (Dennis) Knittle of Van Wert and Wendy S. (Jan) Flynn of Centerville.
He is also survived by his brother Jim (Helen)Romick of Troy, sister Ann (Wendell) Keller of Ariz., and five grandchildren: Jason Romick, Ryan Romick, Katie Zimmerly, Rachelle Harmon, Betsy Weldy and eight great-grandchildren: Zachary Romick, Casey, Maddy and Simon
Zimmerly, Paige and Gabby Weldy and Grady and Morgan Romick. He was preceded in death by his son Timothy G. Romick and brother, Bill Romick.
Shortly after their marriage, Mr. Romick worked for Matlack as a mechanic and was sent to Springfield, Mass., for diesel mechanic school. He fulfilled a lifelong dream and moved to the country to farm.
He worked for Dale Krout and Sons Asphalt and Paving. He was also a mechanic for United Trucking as a second job so he could fulfill his dream of farming.
Mr. Romick then retired from the Hancock County Engineers office at age 70 and was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner. He was a lifelong member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Rawson.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2011, at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay with Rev. Michael Armstrong officiating. A Masonic service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday with visitation following the Masonic service. A private burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made tothe New Hope United Methodist Church, Rawson, or to the American
