PHOTO Spring forward time

Clocks move ahead one hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 10, 2024. We lose an hour now but gain daylight in the evenings. We'll fall back on the first Sunday in November. Love it or hate it, it's time for a change.

P-G boys basketball upsets Delphos St. J for District Championship

Next stop, Regionals. In front of a near capacity crowd, the #2 seeded Pandora-Gilboa boys basketball team pulled off the upset of #1 Delphos St. John’s in convincing fashion, to claim the Northwest 2 District Championship at the Elida Fieldhouse by a final of 56-43.  This is the third district title in school history for the P-G boys (1999, 2018). A few of the stars on this year’s team were young ballboys for the State Final Four team in 2018.

Weekend Doctor: Considering a vasectomy?

March has arrived. For many men, this is a time to take it easy and enjoy watching your favorite (or not-so-favorite) college basketball team compete in March Madness.

For others, it’s your last break before a busy spring of outdoor work around the yard or in the fields. For these reasons, March has often also been considered the perfect time to think about a vasectomy. ESPN has even covered the trend of men scheduling vasectomies in March, and local trends reflect this as well. Some clinics even report a 50% increase in vasectomies through March.

The Bluffton Lions Club celebrated the 90th anniversary of its charter with a banquet and program on March 5 providing both a history of the club and an international context for its future work.

Triplett Foundation accepting scholarship applications

The R.L. and Etta L. Triplett Memorial Foundation is accepting applications for scholarships to be awarded to Bluffton High Schools seniors planning to enroll at Bluffton University in the fall.

Scholarships of $2,000 were presented to an individual BHS seniors in 2022 and 2023 during the May academic awards ceremony.

The amount of the 2024 award is dependent upon the number of student recipients. Students must be a Bluffton High School senior planning to attend Bluffton University who is not eligible for tuition exchange.
