Brauen's Gourds will hold a fall open house from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 7, and 1 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 8.
The open house is at the rural residence of Don and Jody Brauen, 7140 Tom Fett Road, Bluffton. Hundreds of decorative gourds will be available for sale. The gourds are created in an assortment of themes from seasonal to sports teams.
Russian-born artist and long-time Bluffton College art professor, John Klassen, created this sculpture titled "The Good Samaritan" in 1969. It was one of his final art works. Today it is on the top floor of Centennial Hall on the Bluffton University campus.
Four major events are on the September Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce calendar.
Friday, Sept. 13, breakfast
Jay Begg, Allen County Commissioner chair, is the speaker of the first chamber breakfast of the 2013-14 season. In addition, several new persons to the Bluffton business community will be introduced at the meeting.
Polished, 417 N. Main St., Bluffton has a "free Saturday," on Sept. 7, according Joan Frederick. "This gives customers a chance to get time to try tanning for free," she said.
The free Saturday is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
