Bluffton residents have a chance to get an update on the State Route 103 corridor safety study this week. A public meeting is at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, July 6, in the town hall. (The Icon earlier incorrectly listed the meeting as taking place on Wedneday)
This is a follow-up meeting from one held in February. At that time one suggested fix resulting for the corridor totaled $10.4 million. Here's a review of the February study session report
Bluffton Public Library holds a fund-raiser for Crime Victim Services of Lima. It's a clothes swap party at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, July 13. Tickets are $7. Contact the library for more details.
What's happening in July at the Bluffton Public Library? Lots of things, and here's the schedule.
Patrons wishing to participate may still sign up for the Reading Challenge. If you’re already signed up, just keep tracking what you read and attending our many events.
On July 1, retired Bluffton University math professor, Luther Shetler will have time to ponder the number 100 and all its meanings.
He was born July 1, 1917.
Originally from Indiana where he grew up on a dairy farm, Luther accepted a math teaching position at Bluffton College in 1950. He and his wife, Geneva, brought their family to Bluffton where he taught countless students in his academic discipline for 34 years, retiring in 1984.
Kathleen Mikkelsen has a special birthday next week.
And, her only regret is that her twin sister, Geraldine, who died a few years ago, isn’t here to celebrate it with her.
On July 3, Kathleen, a Mennonite Memorial home resident, turns 100.
She grew up on South Main Street Bluffton and graduated in the BHS class of 1935. The class had 75 members. Although in 1939 she married and moved from Bluffton, she never left home.
