Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) is joining #GivingTuesday, a nationwide effort that harnesses the collective power of individuals, families, businesses and non-profits to make a difference in the lives of others.
In the repressive Soviet Union of the 1980s, dissident Aleksandr Kalugin kept his art under cover in a grand piano—“hidden in plain sight,” as Olwen Pritchard put it Nov. 12 at Bluffton University.
But Pritchard and her husband, Dr. James Satterwhite, a Bluffton professor, acquired five etchings from Kalugin and eventually brought them back to Bluffton, where they are now on permanent display in the university’s Musselman Library.
BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University senior defensive end Ryan Aelker (New Bavaria/Holgate) helped the Beavers claim a 35-14 win at rival Defiance College on Saturday and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Football Player of the Week on defense for the second time this season. He was also honored following his performance in Bluffton's 38-26 win over Baldwin-Wallace on September 12.

It will be an evening of legislation at Bluffton's Monday council meeting.
Ten ordinances and resolutions are on the agenda. These cover a range of subjects including regulation of parking, 2016 appropriations, prohibiting semi-trailers on Lake Street, and penalties for parking or storage of inoperative vehicles in the village.
Each of these ordinances and resolutions is part of council's packet, which is an attachment at the bottom of this story.
The Bluffton Lions again will be holding a chicken dinner on Saturday, Nov. 28 from 4-7 p.m. Pre-sale tickets offered at $8.50 each are available through a Lions member or the Edward Jones office on Main St. This year's dinner will be held in a new location -- the basement of the Bluffton Presbyterian Church, Main Street.
Ted’s Market in Pandora will be providing the food for this event; a meal includes ½ chicken, au gratin potatoes, green beans, roll and butter. Coffee or cold drink is included.
