By Cort Reynolds

BHS hosts Ottawa Hills on Thursday, October 6

The visiting Bluffton High School boys soccer team won 4-1 at Lincolnview behind the offensive exploits of Justin Good Monday evening, October 3.

The W also iced the Pirates' top spot in the Northwest Conference league. The streaking Pirates improved to 8-4-1 overall and 4-0 in the NWC with their seventh straight win, and 38th consecutive league victory.

The Lancers dropped to 5-6-2 overall and 1-1-1 in NWC play with the defeat.

Coach Dan Lee told the Icon, "I am so proud of these guys. At the beginning of each season we set personal and team goals. One team goal each season is to win the NWC.

"Our defense has done a good job shutting down most of the conference teams' dangerous players. Also, while scoring goals have been a little harder to come by this season, It has been great to see different players step up and get goals in these games."

In this game, Pirate Jack Brauen started the scoring in the 18th minute with a goal off a Good assist.

Then in the final minute of the first half, Good scored unassisted to put Bluffton ahead 2-0 at intermission.

Lancer Jackson Evans found the back of the net in the 52nd minute to halve the deficit to 2-1.

Luke Shepherd rebuilt the Pirate lead to two goals with a score four minutes later from a Ben Hartzler feed.

Good tallied the last Pirate goal in the 77th minute to make the final margin three.

Pirate goalkeeper Kyle Basil made two saves in goal to post the shutout. The Lancer keeper was credited with eight saves.

The Pirates put 12 of their 18 shots on goal, while Lincolnview got off six shots, three of which were on goal.

Bluffton hosts perennial non-league power Ottawa Hills (8-4-1) Thursday, October 6 at 6:55 p.m.

The Pirates then visit WBL leader Shawnee (9-1-1, 6-0 WBL) Saturday, Oct. 8 at noon in another tough non-conference match.

Lincolnview visits struggling non-league foe Fort Jennings (1-10-1) Thursday at 5 p.m.
