Trinity Lutheran Thanksgiving service Nov. 25

A special Thanksgiving Day service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jenera, at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 25.

Rev. Al Schmitzer will conduct the service and deliver the message. The choir will sing "Give Thanks with a Grateful Heart" and the church will be decorated with harvest items. The church is handicapped accessible. More information is at www.trinitylutheran-jenera.org.

Tony Campolo guest speaker Dec. 5 at Pleasant View United Methodist

Rev. Dr. Tony Campolo is the guest speaker during a 10 a.m. worship service, Sunday, Dec. 5, at the Pleasant View United Methodist Church, 300 County Road 27, Bluffton.

The Mount Cory/Pleasant View United Methodist Congregations will be holding a joint worship service for Dr. Campolo.

A carry-in dinner follows the service.

Old Millstream handbell choir performs at St. John's UCC

The Old Millstream handbelll choir from Findlay will perform a Christmas program at St. John's United Church of Christ, 223 W. College Ave., Bluffton.

The concert is at 7 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 5. "Come hear this wonderful hand bell choir in concert and start your Christmas season off with a ring," said Rev. Carol Clements, pastor.

A free will offering will be accepted.

Community Thanksgiving service Nov. 21 at First United Methodist

The churches and ministers of Bluffton invite you to the annual Community Thanksgiving worship service at 7 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 21, at First United Methodist Church, corner of Church and Jackson streets.

The theme for this year's service is "A Ten-Fold Thanksgiving," drawn from the story of Jesus' healing of the 10 lepers in Luke chapter 17.

John Foster of Bluffton Trinity United Methodist Church will bring the message, and those in attendance will have the opportunity to place "leaves of thanksgiving" on a "thanksgiving tree" throughout the service.

New flagpole dedicated at Trinity School

A new flagpole was dedicated in connection with the Veterans' Day program at Trinity Lutheran School, Jenera. Staff Sgt. George Norway, a Trinity graduate stationed with the 2nd Marine Logistics Group at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, helped eighth grade students Jacob Edwards and Kyle Sands with the first flag raising.

Speakers at the program included Hubert Rauch, a World War II veteran, Ed Amstutz, a Viet Nam veteran and George Norway, a current Marine.

Rev. Carol Clements named pastor at St. John's UCC

Rev. Carol Clements

A new pastor for St. John's United Church of Christ (UCC) preached in this Bluffton congregation for the first time on Sunday, Oct. 10.

Rev. Carol Clements, a graduate of the denomination's Lancaster (Pa.) Seminary, has long been active in heeding Jesus Christ's call for service to suffering humanity, even before her entering the Christian ministry as a second vocation.
