How about some Bingo? Tonight's the night

G 14....B 10...(you know the drill).

Bluffton P.T.O.'s annual "Bakery Bingo" event is Saturday, Jan. 26, from 6-8 p.m. in the middle school cafetorium.

"There will be lots of family fun, including Bingo games for a chance to win delicious baked goods," Allison Mittendorf of the PTO, told The Icon.

"Additionally, there will be a 50/50 raffle and basket raffles thanks to the generosity of local businesses and parent donations. Food concessions will also be available.

Why bother?

It just keeps snowing. Why bother to clean off the sidewalk? Varous methods of snow removal were in play on Jan. 25 including brooms (in this photo), shovels, plows and snow blowers. This scene is at Founders Hall.

Look who's on the Bluffton elementary school honor roll

The Bluffton elementary school honor roll for the second quarter was recently released. It is in PDF list form attached at the bottom of this post.

Bill Swartley talks to Lions about medical mission trips to DR

Bluffton resident Bill Swartley is the guest speaker at the noon, Tuesday, Feb. 5, Bluffton Lions Club meeting. The meeting is in the Patio Room of Maple Crest.

Swartley, a nurse anesthetist, will talk about his experiences involving medical missions to the Dominican Republic. Since 1998, Swartley has participated in 17 trips as a member of a surgical team with Medical Ministry International. 

MMH host site for Alzheimer's Caregiver Support Group

The Mennonite Memorial Home is a host site for Caregiver Support Group meetings of The Alzheimer’s Association, Northwest Ohio Chapter

The next meeting is at 3:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 18, at MMH conference room, 410 W. Elm St. Meeting facilitators are Tricia Herman and Emily Koogler.

These caregiver groups are free and open to the public. Registration is not required. However, it is suggested that persons contact the facilitator of the group for the first time to confirm the time, place and date of the meeting.

Bluffton Diamond Sports says "Play Ball"; spring-summer registration starts soon

Although it’s only January Bluffton Diamond Sports is thinking about spring and summer baseball and softball.

Registration forms are being distributed this weekend in the Bluffton schools. A copy of the form is also an attachment to this story. Forms are also available at the elementary and middle school offices during school hours and also available at the turn-in locations.

The Diamond Sports season for most teams runs from the end of April to mid June.
