LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Bluffton University women's basketball team was unable to overcome a 30 percent shooting afternoon as Transylvania University capped its season sweep of the Beavers with a 73-59 victory on Saturday, Jan. 20. Bluffton slipped to 12-5 and 7-3 in the Heartland Conference, while Transy improved to 13-4 and 8-2 in the HCAC.

Here's a list of area programs to get you in the spirit

Several Bluffton-connected events this winter should interest area gardeners and naturalists. Victoria Zeits of the Bluffton-Pandora Area Gardeners provided The Icon with the following schedule.

• Thursday, Jan. 25, 10 a.m. – Bluffton Senior Citizens Center. Beth Theisen, Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park, presents program on the healing power of nature. Free with donations accepted.

Bluffton Family Recreation is busy this month with youth soccer league games. Here's some photos of Thursday's game between Bluffton Happy Feet and Liberty Benton.

Regisration now underway - deadline to sign-up is Jan. 31

Bluffton Youth Soccer is thinking about spring.

Registration for spring 2018 is now available on line. Registrations are due Wednesday, Jan. 31, according to Ron Koontz.

Including an average of two plastic surgeries each week

Albert Loayza, RN, surgical first assistant at Bluffton Hospital, puts it this way: “Our hospital is small, but our care is big.”

Last year that “small” Bluffton Hospital surgical department handled 4,500 procedures, a number that may surprise most Icon viewers.

Bluffton’s surgical specialties include general, obstetrics and gynecology (OB-GYN), facial plastic, pediatric, urology, gastro-intestinal and ear, nose and throat surgery.
