LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Bluffton University men’s basketball team fell in a key HCAC road game to the Transylvania University Pioneers, 73-64, on Saturday, Feb. 6. The loss knocks the Beavers to 10-11 overall and 5-9 in HCAC play while the Pioneers improved to 9-12 and 8-6 in the conference.

Etta Jo Huber, 86, died Feb. 5, 2016, at Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora. She was born Dec. 27, 1929, in Circleville to Joliffe B. and Irene (Osborne) Maynard.  On Jan. 21, 1951, she married Dale L Huber, and he survives near Bluffton.
 
Etta graduated from Commercial Point High School in 1946 and Office Training School, Columbus in 1947.  She enjoyed raising her family, being a farm wife, and helping run the family business, Specialty Foods of Ohio, that she co-owned with her husband for 20 years before retiring in 1990.
 

Shirley J. Kirk, 88, of Ottawa, died at 3:25 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay.

She was born Dec. 1, 1927, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to the late Gordon H. and Gertrude (Spencer) Hosmer. Her step-father, Minor "Mac" McDougle is also deceased.

On June 1, 1947 she married William C. "Bill" Kirk at the First Baptist Church in Lima. After 57 years of marriage, he iedy on April 2, 2004.
