The Bluffton High School girls tennis team won both its midweek matches, topping Defiance 4-1 Wednesday and Lima Senior 5-0 Thursday. The girls play Saturday at the Elida Invitational.

Singles winners in both matches for the Lady Pirates were Emily Sprague, Shannon Koch and Jess Hunter. Ashlin Gable and Kristi Geiser won at No. 1 doubles against Defiance, while Shaye Liddick and Liz Diller lost due to injury in that match. Lima Senior forfeited both doubles matches due to lack of players.

A Punt, Pass and Kick competition will be hosted on Saturday, Sept. 18, at Trinity Lutheran School's field across from the school at 105 Allen St., Jenera.

Registration is at 12:30 p.m. prior to the 1 p.m. event and participants between the ages of 6 and 15 years should bring their birth certificates.

CC Runners Set Personal Records at Grove Invitational Last Saturday, September fourth, the Pirate cross country runners piled into a school bus and made the short drive to the Columbus Grove Invitational.

The Grove course was a speedy one - a triple loop down open stretches of cheering fans and flat forest trails that spits you out onto the track for the last 300 meters.

Recent tennis results for the BHS girls netters show a close loss at Napoleon and three doubles teams placing at the Fostoria Invitational (at Findlay) Jess Hunter, Liz Diller and Rachel Sehlhorst lost singles matches at Napoleon, while the doubles teams of Ashlin Gable/Emily Sprague and Kristi Geiser/Shannon Koch were victorious.

Gable/Sprague remained undefeated at Findlay, taking the No. 1 doubles title, while the doubles teams of Geiser/Koch and Hunter/Diller each placed third.
