Grace Mennonite book sale Dec. 3-4

Grace Mennonite, Pandora, will hold its annual book sale on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 3-4, at the church. Jilaine Graber of Faith and Life Books and Gifts, Berne, Ind., will bring an array of books, CDs, devotionals and many other items to sell.

The event hours are 6:30 to 9 p.m., Friday, Dec. 3, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 4. This year the profit earned from the book sale will be used to purchase books for The Lion and Lamb Peace and Arts Center at Bluffton University.

Elvira Tatarkov BHS student of the month

Elvira Tatarkov, Bluffton High School senior, was named student of the month for October.

She is the daughter of Andrey and Svetlana Tatarkov, 10970 Phillips Road, Bluffton. Elvira carries a 4.0 grade point average and is a member of the BHS Math Club and Art Club.

She had received awards for English as a Freshman and Sophomore; Spanish award while a Junior. She is a National Merit commended student. Elvira is enrolled a Calculus I as a post-secondary class.

Challenges such as a constantly changing staff, a name change and merger phasing could really bring down a business. However, Bluffton University's radio station, 99.3 FM WBWH-LP has stood strong through all of this and is better than ever.

The staff and students who are involved with the organization have big goals for the 2010-2011 school year.

Nov. 18 tea at The Inn at ONU

The Inn at Ohio Northern University offers Thursday Tea at the Inn every Thursday afternoon from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at The Inn. The garden courtyard is open for seating (weather permitting).

On Thursday, Nov. 18, the featured tea is Maharaja Chai Oolong Tea paired with Spice Cake, in addition to a selection of Chef's Tea Sandwiches, Scones, Pastries, Tarts and Petite Fours. Champagne is also available.

New flagpole dedicated at Trinity School

A new flagpole was dedicated in connection with the Veterans' Day program at Trinity Lutheran School, Jenera. Staff Sgt. George Norway, a Trinity graduate stationed with the 2nd Marine Logistics Group at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, helped eighth grade students Jacob Edwards and Kyle Sands with the first flag raising.

Speakers at the program included Hubert Rauch, a World War II veteran, Ed Amstutz, a Viet Nam veteran and George Norway, a current Marine.
