Bluffton offering winter classes to retirees

 

Bluffton University’s Institute for Learning in Retirement (ILR), an educational program for retirees, is offering three classes led by local residents on Wednesdays, Feb. 5-March 5, in the Kreider Room in Marbeck Center.

The winter term costs $60, which allows participants to take as many classes as they wish. The fee is due at the time of registration.

Icon collecting names of businesses and individuals involved in snow removal

In cooperation with the Village of Bluffton and the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce, Bluffton Icon is collecting names of businesses and individuals involved in snow removal.

With a list available we want individuals in the community to have a resource when the next heavy snowfall hits the community.

The list will assist individual homeowners who need sidewalks, driveways and other areas removed of snow.

Free community meal Jan. 29 in Pandora

The Pandora United Methodist Church will host a free community meal on Wednesday, Jan. 29, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the church fellowship hall, 108 E. Washington St., Pandora. The meal this month is provided by 7'oclock Flock. The menu will be tomato soup, grilled cheese sandwich, relish tray, dessert and beverage.

You might call this guy Snowbeck. He sits outside Marbeck Center and his purple tattoo reads "Welcome Back." The message welcomes back students to campus after a weather-delayed week.

Renee Smith will head Bluffton school board in 2014

Bluffton school board reorganized for 2014 on Jan. 8.

The following positions were approved:
• Board president, Renee Smith
• Board vice president, Brad Fruchey

• Officlal delegate to 2014 Ohio School Board Conference, Brad Fruchey
• Alternate delegate, Renee Smith

• Legislative liaison to the Ohio School Board Association, Wes Klinger
• Board’s representative on the Athletic Council, Jeremy Scoles
