James Satterwhite was a Bluffton University professor

Dr. James Haywood Satterwhite, Ph. D., died Aug. 10, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora.  James was born Dec. 28, 1946, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, to James P. and Altha (Smith) Satterwhite. On Jan. 23, 1976, he married Olwen Pritchard who survives in Bluffton.

James was a graduate of the Canadian Academy in Japan, received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of South Florida and his Master's and Doctorate degrees from University of Washington in Seattle.

Lincoln Highway Buy-Way sales underway

The three-day annual Lincoln Highway Buy-Way across America yard sale began in Ada on Thursday morning amid sunny skies. Here, Mike Streicher of Bluffton gets a map of the 17 Ada sales sites from Deb Curlis, Ada Chamber president. The tent along Main Street in the Railroad Park will be manned those three days by the Chamber and C.I.C. members, the local sponsoring organizations. In addition to handing out the maps, people visiting the tent can also find Ada Sesquicentennial books and yardsticks.

Campus Life holds Fallout event Sept. 3

Area high school students are invited to a “Fallout” event from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 3, at 4080 E. Hook-Waltz Road, Elida, according to Jeremy Basinger, Bluffton High School Campus Life director.

“The event includes food, orb ball, zombie hayride, airsoft, 150-foot slip and slide, outdoor movie, and much more,” said Basinger.

Ada hardware video catches thief in action

At 9:20 a.m. this morning (Aug. 11) the Ada Police Department issued a S.A.F.E.R. Alert (Seeking Aid From Every Resident) as it attempt to find the identity of the subject in this picture and video.

This Hispanic male has actively stolen items from Keith's Hardware, Ada, over the past couple of days. He has tattoos on his right arm and was observed wearing a gold watch.
