Pirate boys' soccer team ranked 3rd in NW Ohio D3 poll

The Bluffton High School boys' soccer team is now ranked third in the Division 3 of the Northwest Ohio Soccer Coaches Association poll. Bluffton is behind Ottawa Hills and Maumee Valley Country Day. The top 10 ranked teams are attached below.

Beef and noodle dinner Oct. 18 at St. John's UCC

St. John's United Church of Christ will hold a beef and noodle dinner, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 18, at the church, 223 W. College Ave.

The menu includes homemade noodles, beef, mashed potatoes, green beans, apple sauce, roll, assorted pies and beverage. Dine in or carryout.

Stephan Mahler recognized by Red Cross

Stephan Mahler of Rawson is recipient of the Excellence in Disaster Services Award, presented at the American Red Cross volunteer recognition dinner on Oct. 4.

The event was for members of the American Red Cross North Central Ohio Chapter and was held in Upper Sandusky.

Bluffton spikers seeded 5th in sectional

Pirates face P-G in opening round on Oct. 15

BLUFFTON - The Bluffton volleyball team was seeded fifth at the 14-team Div. IV Bluffton super sectional drawing held Sunday.

The Lady Pirates (11-9) will host eighth-seeded Pandora-Gilboa in the first round Tuesday, October 15 at 5:30 p.m.

Bluffton beat P-G 3-1 back on August 22 in just their second match of the season.

The Pirate/P-G victor will face the victor between heavily-favored third seed Marion Local and winless 14th seed Upper Scioto Valley. That second round match will take place at New Knoxville Thursday, Oct. 17.

Bluffton visits local rival Allen East on Friday

BLUFFTON - The Bluffton football team was upset 21-9 by visiting Paulding in a Northwest Conference ground battle to spoil Homecoming Friday night at Harmon Field.

Their second consecutive loss dropped the Pirate record to 3-3 overall and 1-2 in the NWC. The Panthers improved to 2-4 and 1-2 in league play as they ended a two-game losing skid.

Erin Hotmire tennis season ends 1 win short of district

BHS girls compete in sectional

LIMA - Seven Bluffton girls tennis players competed at the Div. II sectional tournament hosted by Elida this past Thursday at UNOH.

Forty singles players competed, with only the final four moving on to districts next week.

Pirate senior Erin Hotmire won her first match, a round of 32 battle, over Rachel Wilcox of Bath by a 6-0, 6-2 score. In the round of 16, Hotmire eliminated Defiance's Alexa Bickford easily in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.
