Your invitation to join the Aug. 12 Arlington festival parade

The Arlington Village Festival is Friday and Saturday, Aug. 12-13.

One of the events is a parade and area organizations and businesses are invited to participate. The parade is at 6 p.m., Friday, Aug 12. Line up starts at 4:30 p.m. at the Arlington elevator lot and in front of the Arlington High School.

Junior Weihrauch, who directs the Bluffton Blaze of Lights parade, is the Arlington parade director. He invites local groups to participate and the an application form is attached to this story.

The zoo comes to the library, again!

The Toledo Zoo returned to the library on Wednesday. Here a young patron gets close to a box turtle shell. There were other animals, too. And, do you know how a starfish eats? Ask one of the youth who attended. Answer: the starfish throws out its stomach and surrounds the meal. 

Pokémon Go - it's the newest game in Bluffton, in case you didn't know

The newest game in town is Pokémon Go.You read it first on the Bluffton Icon.

You, too, can play.

Here’s how: Join for some hunting around town from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays starting at the Bluffton post office. All ages are welcome. For more information contact Noah Friesen at: [email protected] or 541-912-3970.

He added: “Bluffton residents have been hunting high and low for wild Pokémon using the Pokémon GO mobile-app. You know who you are!”

Transition Bluffton community potluck on July 17

A Transition Bluffton community potluck takes place later this month, according to Ken Lawrence of the group.

The potluck is at 6 p.m., Sunday, July 17, in the third floor of the Bluffton town hall. The event is open to the public. Persons wanting more information call 419-358-0572.

 

 

University football coaches host K-8 football clinic July 19

Denny Dorrel, Bluffton University football coach, and his staff are hosting a fred football clinic on Friday, July 29, for students entering grades K-8 in the fall.

Coach Dorrel is eagerly anticipating his third season at the helm of Bluffton's football team. In an effort to bring his love of football to the area's youth, Coach Dorrel, along with his staff and team, will be directing the clinic, 6-8:30 p.m., Friday, July 29, on the campus of Bluffton University.
