Bluffton chamber coordinates downtown Scarecrow Decorating Contest

The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce is encouraging businesses to decorate the Bluffton downtown area with a scarecrow theme beginning the first week of October. The powerful color punch of petunias in pots and on lamp posts vanish at the end of September and provides a new opportunity for the community to decorate.

Why is Pain Awareness Important?
With an increased focus on pain awareness this month, pain management care team members are dedicated to educating the community on the impact of chronic pain. The purpose of highlighting pain awareness is to instill a greater understanding among healthcare professionals, individuals, and families who are struggling with pain management. The same applies to the business community, legislators, and the general public, as pain is a serious public health issue.

Kennedy Parker to speak on marketing internship

11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 1, Musselman Library Reading Room

Kennedy Parker ‘25, a communication and media major from Lima, Ohio, will present “Following My Eyes to Marketing Mastery,” on October 1. This event is free and open to the public. 

Parker will share experiences from her marketing internship with Lima-based advertising agency Follow The Eyes.

Forum at Bluffton University provides a public space for interdisciplinary discovery about the personal, local and global challenges faced by students, faculty, staff and the Bluffton community.

Pirate girls soccer edges Trojans; McDougle scores two

BLUFFTON __ The Bluffton High School girls soccer team fell behind early but came back to beat visiting non-conference foe Botkins 3-2 Thursday night, September 19, at Steinmetz Field.

The Pirate record improved to 7-2-1 overall after the home victory.

The Trojan girls fell to 3-5-1 with the road defeat.

Trojan DeeDee Pitts scored the game’s first goal in the seventh minute.

Bluffton’s Mya McDougle tied it 1-1 with an unassisted goal in the 36th minute.

Pirate boys soccer blanks Spartans

LIMA __ The visiting Bluffton High School boys soccer team shut out Lima Senior 4-0 in a non-conference match Thursday evening, September 19, at Spartan Stadium.

Pirate Gavin Amstutz scored two goals to pace the offense to victory. Levi Antrim contributed a goal and one assist to the winning effort.

The Pirate record improved to 5-6 overall with the road victory. Lima Senior fell to 3-3-1 after the defeat.

Bluffton led 2-0 at halftime and tallied two more scores after intermission to win going away.

Pirate boys win NWC golf crown

BLUFFTON __ Tournament host Bluffton High School won the seven-team Northwest Conference boys golf championship on Thursday, September 19 at the Bluffton Golf Club.

The top finish gave the Pirates their league-best 17th title overall, and their first NWC links crown since 2019. Bluffton’s Drew Wilson was tournament medalist five years ago at Tamarac Golf Course.
