Retired Bluffton elementary teacher, Geneva Shetler, 100, died surrounded by family on Sept. 13, 2019, at the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton.

Geneva was born on a farm near Archbold, Ohio, and graduated from Archbold High School in 1936. She attended Goshen College, Indiana, where she met her husband-to-be, Luther Shetler. They were married on Dec. 22, 1940.

Paula Scott, Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce CEO, announced during Friday's chamber breakfast that a new Explore Bluffton visitors' guide is in the works. Scott shared a working cover of the new guide. The chamber is in the advertising soliciation stage of the guide, which should be available this winter.
The Maple Crest “idea” was a confluence of dreams and ideas from many community members developed over several years coming together at just the right time.

On Sept. 16, 1999, Carol Diller, Tesla Diller, Harriett McKibben and Marie Augsburger were the first residents to move into Maple Crest Senior Living Village’s main building.
The rest is history, as they say, as Maple Crest has grown and developed into the vision of being a great living option for independent seniors with an emphasis on wellness and socialization.
Bluffton ran its win streak to six matches with the comeback victory.

KENTON - The Bluffton boys soccer team tallied two second half goals to come from behind and defeat Kenton on the road at Chuck Merrill Field Saturday night.
The win over the previously-undefeated Wildcats lifted the Pirate record to 8-1, while Kenton fell to 6-1-2 with the defeat.
Bluffton ran its win streak to six matches with the comeback victory.
The Pirates trailed 1-0 at halftime after Wildcat sophomore Riley Risner scored in the 27th minute on an assist from senior Reed Cook.
BHS went 5-2 this week – to up their solid season record to 9-4

LIMA - The Bluffton volleyball team ended a busy week by finishing third at the eight-team OIO Tournament Saturday at Bath.
The Lady Pirates went 2-1 at the event – and 5-2 this week – to up their solid season record to 9-4.
In the OIO tourney first round, Bluffton beat Northwood 25-22, 25-7. Sophomore standout Kylie Stackhouse led the offense with nine kills and two aces, plus she added seven blocks.

DEFIANCE - The visiting Bluffton football team scored the final 21 points to break away from a tie and whip Defiance Ayersville 35-14 in their first road game Friday night.
The non-league contest was knotted 14-14 after an eventful first quarter.
But Bluffton held Ayersville scoreless over the last three periods, and managed to score one touchdown in each of those stanzas to win going away.
