Senior Citizens Association featured at Feb. 13 chamber breakfast; real estate workshop follows

The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce highlights the Bluffton Senior Citizens Association at its Friday, Feb. 13, breakfast meeting. The meeting is in the third floor of the Bluffton town hall, 154 N. Main St.

Tonya Meyer, director of the association, is the morning speaker. The association celebrates its 45th anniversary in November.

A free breakfast will be served from 7 to 7:30 a.m. The Dough Hook of Bluffton will provide the breakfast. The breakfast meeting is from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.

C. Henry Smith introduced to new generation of university students

A plea from Dr. C. Henry Smith to the Mennonite Church 90 years ago remains relevant today, according to the author of a forthcoming book about the Mennonite historian.

After World War I, Smith modeled the role of Mennonite public intellectual, delivering a consistent message of peacemaking both to Mennonite and other audiences, Dr. Perry Bush said Feb. 3 in Bluffton University’s annual C. Henry Smith Peace Lecture.

Dorothy Moser, Evelyn Reese, Glennys Henry, Jane Wright honored by Senior Citizens

Dorothy Moser, Evelyn Reese, Glennys Henry and Jane Wright will be recognized at the Monday, Feb. 9, Bluffton Senior Citizens monthly potluck lunch.

The event is at noon at the Center. These members turned 90 in January or February (there was no January meeting). Each will be recognized with a Life membership in the Center.

All these events are FREE this month at BFR

The fourth week of BFR’s Keeping Active Wellness Campaign will include more free walking days, free fitness classes and recreation options and a special event for Healthy Heart Day. 

Aqua Zumba

The Aqua Zumba class will be offered free on Monday, Feb. 9, at 6 PM, and the evening session of All Star Workouts will be free on Thursday, Feb. 12, at 6 PM. Free walking days are scheduled for Friday Feb. 6, Sunday Feb. 8, Wednesday, Feb. 11, Saturday, Feb. 14 and Sunday, Feb. 15.

Jane Sycks junior trumpet recital at Capital University Feb. 14

Jane Sycks, Bluffton High School graduate, and student at Capital University, Columbus, will present her junior trumpet recital at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 14.

The recital takes place in Huntington Recital Hall, Bexley Hall (Conservatory of Music) on the campus of Capital University. The recital is free and open to the public.

Nicole Thomas, flute player attending Capital, will also be part of the recital.
