Spectrum Salon: Cheers to 10 years!

This week Many Kinn (right), owner of Spectrum Salon at 422 N. Main St., celebrated 10 years in business. Kinn notes that the business began as hair only but now also provides nail, spa, sugaring and makeup services. Stylist Cassie Weyer (left) is also celebrating 10 years at Spectrum.

Letter: Bluffton National Night Out made possible by donors, volunteers

Dear Business and Community Partners, 

The Bluffton and Pandora Police Departments are in the planning stages for holding our annual National Night Out celebration. This year marks a milestone as this will be our 10th annual event! We are so thankful for the assistance from the communities of Bluffton and Pandora over the years, and we hope that you will continue to assist with this event. If you haven't helped in the past, we will welcome your assistance this year!

This year's event will be held on Tuesday August 6 and will take place at the Bluffton Community Swimming Pool from 6:00-9:00 p.m. and free pool admission will be offered all day. The Bluffton, Beaverdam and Pandora Fire and EMS Departments will also be participating in this event and those communities and surrounding areas are invited to attend.

State Wildlife Officer Jason Porinchok, assigned to Putnam County, conducted a license check during the 2023 white-tailed deer gun hunting season. Officer Porinchok found that the hunter had failed to purchase a deer permit.

Breast cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers in the world today. Self-breast education and awareness for the public are crucial for each and every one of us in our own personal health. As we go through different phases of life, our bodies are constantly evolving. For all individuals, it should be a key principle to be self-aware of one’s breast health. By being self-aware, we should be able to observe any change that may occur. Noticing any abnormal changes could lead to earlier breast cancer detection. Self-awareness is one of the keys to early detection of breast cancer, as well as self-breast exams, clinical breast exams, and screening mammograms. Detecting breast cancer early often leads to a better prognosis.

Richard D. Garmatter, 85, of Bluffton passed away on June 14, 2024 at his residence.  Arrangements are pending at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.
