Streetscape businesses urged not to use rock salt or ice melt this winter

Owners of Main Street buildings in the streetscape area were issued some friendly advice from the village concerning care of their sidewalks this winter.

"With the winter weather upon us, I want to remind everyone about using rock salt or ice melt products on the new streetscape concrete," said Jamie Mehaffie, village administrator.

"Please do not use it!" he said. "We searched everywhere for a product that is safe to use on new concrete that is less than one year old. We couldn't find anything."

Dec. 12 music marathon bands listed

The music schedule for the live music marathon at Common Grounds is now available. The event is from noon to 9 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 12. It is a benefit music event for Drugs Bring Death. The schedule follows:

Heather and Jason Cox

Heather Lynn Carmack and Jason Randall Cox of Bluffton were married on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at St. John's United Church of Christ in Bluffton, Ohio.

The bride is the daughter of Sherri and Larry Carmack of Bluffton. Heather is a 2004 graduate of Bluffton High School, and is currently pursuing a career in nursing. She is employed as an STNA at the Mennonite Memorial Home.

No one knows computer printer ink cartridges like brothers, Dave and Bob Fett of Bluffton. And thanks to their knowledge, Bluffton residents have an opportunity to join in the "green" ink cartridge revolution.

Dave and Bob closed their residential home building company when the housing market turned sour. But, as the saying goes, when one door shuts, another opens.

Baptists hold 26th annual live nativity

Baptist live nativity

The Bluffton Baptist Church's 26-year Christmas tradition of holding a live nativity continues on Friday, Dec. 11. The nativity, located in the church parking lot at 345 County Line Road, may be viewed from 7 to 9 p.m. on Dec. 11. One final viewing will be Saturday, Dec. 19.
