Richland Manor Hope for Holidays Christmas raffle offers $650 in prizes

Richland Manor invites Icon viewers to participate in its Hope for the Holidays Christmas raffle.  The raffle benefits the Ada ReStore Community Center.

The raffle is already underway and viewers have until 4 p.m., Friday, Dec. 20, to participate.

Here how the raffle works:

Tickets are available from any Richland Manor employee or at Richland Manor, 7400 Swaney Road, Bluffton.

Santa paws

Ellie Hicks of Bluffton reads a book to Tango, a golden retriever therapy dog on Saturday in the Bluffton Public Library. With the two are Angie Schimmel of Findlay, Tango's owner. The therapy dog "brings people out of their shells," said Schimmel. Tango also encourages youth to read, by patiently sitting and listening.

Swiss Historical Society's "Christmas at the Homestead" Dec. 14

The Swiss Community Historical Society is celebrating the Christmas season by hosting its annual holiday open house, “Christmas at the Homestead,” on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 1 to 7 p.m.  

The public is invited to tour the decorated house while snacking on homemade treats and listening to songs of the season.

The Bluffton University men welcomed Franklin College to the Sommer Center on Saturday, Dec. 7, looking to improve on a 1-0 conference mark. The Grizzlies, led by Bailey Howard's 45 points, had other plans as they outlasted a persistent Beaver squad to take a 92-82 victory home to Indiana.
