Bluffton University students honored for academic excellence

Bluffton University recognized many of its top students for their academic achievements at the annual Academic Awards and Honors Forum on April 26.

Introduced as distinguished scholars in their respective academic areas were 33 seniors. Sarah Diller of Bluffton was honored as the outstanding performer in both theatre and music, and Janice Graham of Gomer, Ohio, accepted the Distinguished Scholar in Sport Management award for her son Jacob, who died in an auto accident in March.

Library seeks teen volunteers for summer

Bluffton Public Library is looking for Volunteens (teen volunteers) between the ages of 12 and 18 for the Summer Reading Club, "One World Many Stories," beginning June 6.

The club is designed to keep children reading and learning throughout the summer months. Volunteens assist children with registering for the club, turning in the hours they read for prizes and with weekly programs.

Mennonite Memorial Home now has openings in short- and long-term nursing care, dementia and Alzheimer care, rehabilitative care and in its assisted living apartments.

Icon welcomes Krysti's Music Studio as newest advertiser

Krysti's Music Studio, Bluffton, is The Icon's newest advertiser. The Studio owner is Krysti (Groman) Schey. She is a pianist, composer, teacher.

She is a Bluffton High School graduate. She received a master's of music in piano performance/piano pedagogy from Bowling Green State University in 2010. As a graduate assistant at BGSU, she taught class piano. Schey obtained her bachelor's degree in music with concentrations in piano performance, piano pedagogy and music business from Bluffton University.

New Bluffton business wants to make you healthy

Well-Nourished, a new business in Bluffton, will open May 1. Emily Britton, the proprietor, is trained to teach clients how to eat in a way that optimizes their bodies metabolism, energy availability, and immune system.

While doing this, Britton will also teach effective goal setting and overall wellness. The goal of Well-Nourished is to see their clients healthy.

Britton is relatively new to the Bluffton area, however, she is not new to the struggles and difficulties of losing weight, setting goals, and living a healthy lifestyle.

Arbor Day tree planted in honor of Bluffton Mayor April 30

The Bluffton Tree Commission will hold an Arbor Day tree planting at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 30, in the rear of the town hall property. This year the commission will honor retiring mayor Fred Rodabaugh.

The commission will plant a flowering cherry tree in his honor. The program is open to the public.
