Pirates Andreas and Matthews run in state track finals

CORRECTION Nora Matthews was incorrectedly identified as not running in the OSHAA finals.

DAYTON – A Bluffton High School senior athlete competed in the Div. III state track and field meet finals at Welcome Stadium in Dayton Friday evening, May 31.

Bluffton senior Theo Andreas set a personal-best record by finishing 14th in the 18-runner field of the 3200-meter boys finals Friday night. 

Andreas crossed the line in a time of 9:46.25. Whiteoak junior Landon Eyre won the 3200 race in 9:10.07.

Columbus Grove senior Luke Ellerbrock took fourth in 9:27.33.

Pirate freshman Nora Matthews ran in the girls 800-meter finals on Friday night. Her time was 2:20.79, placing her 12th among the 17 runners.

Essential information about Bluffton Community Pool in 2024

Blufton’s “friendly neighborhood pool manager” Jennifer Wilson has provided the following information on the pool Facebook page regarding the 2024 season at Bluffton Community Pool, 205 Snyder Rd.

HOURS OF OPERATION: Opening Friday, May 31

  • Monday - Friday 12:00 - 8:00 p.m.
  • Saturday - Sunday 1:00 - 6:00 p.m.
  • Adult lap swim 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Monday-Friday and 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. Saturday-Sunday 

ADMISSION

  • Daily admission is $4.00 per person including adult lap swim.
  • Children 2 and under are free.

Pirates run in three events at 2024 state track meet, day one

DAYTON __ Several Bluffton High School athletes competed in the Div. III state track and field meet at Dayton Welcome Stadium Thursday, May 30. Two more will compete on Friday.

On Wednesday June 12, Thursday June 13, Tuesday, July 9 and Wednesday, July 10, Blufiton Pirate youth development skill sessions will emphasize ballhandling, shooting, decision making and fundamental team play while enhancing a love for the game.

American Legion call for golfers for June 8

The American Legion Bluffton Post 382 meets on 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month at 7:30 p.m. at the Bluffton Sportsmen Club on North Spring Street. Faster Bro: Allergy Relief

A recent commercial uses the saying “it’s faster bro” to promote an over the counter product for seasonal allergy symptoms. There has been negative feedback about the commercial on social media because of the phrase. Did you know the term “bro” dates back to the 1830s-1840s as an abbreviation for brother? Only in the last decade did bro become a slang term for a male friend.
