Faster Bro: Allergy Relief

A recent commercial uses the saying “it’s faster bro” to promote an over the counter product for seasonal allergy symptoms. There has been negative feedback about the commercial on social media because of the phrase. Did you know the term “bro” dates back to the 1830s-1840s as an abbreviation for brother? Only in the last decade did bro become a slang term for a male friend.

Jameson Businger was a chef

Jameson "Spank" Edward Anthony Businger, 38, passed away May 28, 2024.  Jameson was born November 15, 1985 in Bluffton to Robert and Mary Ann (Parkins) Businger.

Letter: Bluffton students to attend 2024 Buckeye Boys State and Buckeye Girls State

To the Bluffton community, I would like to present the following Bluffton High School students who have decided to continue their education by attending the Ohio American and Auxiliary Legion Buckeye Boys State and Buckeye Girls State. (Pictured above L-R)

The Bluffton American Legion and the Bluffton Lions Club would like to congratulate these five students on taking the step of learning how government is run. They will be joining hundreds of other students from all over Ohio.

Village meeting announced for May 30 and June 10

The following Village of Bluffton meetings have been scheduled and will be held at the Bluffton Town Hall, 154 N. Main St.

Utilities Committee on Thursday, May 30 at 4:00 p.m.

Insurance Committee on Thursday, May 30 at 4:30 p.m.

Council Meeting on Monday, June 10 at 7:00 p.m.

$5.5K in grants announced by Triplett Foundation

Above) Terry Mullenhour, Triplett Foundation board member, presents a $1,020 check to Amy Byers, executive director of Bluffton Family YMCA for youth volleyball and soccer supplies. Below) Amber Gladwell will receive a $2,000 scholarship to continue her education at Bluffton University. This is the second year she had received the Triplett scholarship.

Four separate grants make up The R.L. and Etta L. Triplett Foundation’s 2024 grant distribution, which totals $5,520, according to Tomm Triplett, board president of the Bluffton based foundation.

This year’s distribution includes:

  • $2,000 for a continuing scholarship to Amber Gladwell, Bluffton HS graduate, attending Bluffton University
  • $1,700 to Bluffton Child Development Center, for playground mulch
  • $1,020 to Bluffton Family YMCA, for youth volleyball nets, volleyballs, U6 soccer nets and soccer balls
  • $800 for the newly established Bluffton Dog Park

The foundation was established in 1985 with goals to financially support the Bluffton community in five areas:
